The study identifies investment opportunities for fishers in the Ancash, Arequipa and Piura regions, as well as barriers and limitations to access financing from formal sources in the artisanal and small-scale fisheries sectors in Peru. Moreover, it is hoped that the assessment can inform policy options or recommendations to mitigate these risks and overcome the barriers that prevent public and private entities from financing this industry in a sustainable manner.
DownloadThe study estimates the Fishery Performance Indicators for ten selected coastal fisheries in Peru. FPIs are a set of multidimensional indicators employed to measure results at the economic, ecological and community levels for a specific fishery. These indicators allow for a rapid assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the fisheries studied, especially in view of the management systems in place. In addition, the methodology allows providing policy recommendations given the performance of different fisheries.
